Do I need a Florida marriage license?

A Florida marriage license is required for all ceremonies taking place in Florida or on a cruise ship departing from a Florida port.

How long is the license valid for?

Florida marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the date of issue.

How early should I start the application process?

We suggest beginning the process at least 2 months prior to your wedding date but it can be started as soon as your wedding is booked.

When/How will you deliver my license to me?

We can either mail your license to your home address or deliver it to your local Orlando resort.  For international couples, we recommend delivery to your resort, if at all possible.

What happens after the wedding?  Do I need to file anything with the Florida courthouse?

Your officiant will sign your marriage license on the day of your ceremony and file it with the courthouse.  You do not need to do anything else yourself.

When will I get my license after my wedding?

You will receive a certified copy of your marriage certificate approximately 3-4 weeks after your wedding.  This will be mailed directly to you from the courthouse.

Can I get extra copies of the license?

Yes, additional certified copies are available for $3.00 each.  An order form will be included in the envelope with your license- simply indicate how many copies you would like and give the payment for these to your officiant.  After your wedding, additional copies can be ordered directly from the courthouse.  Most couples choose to order 2-3 extra copies which are helpful for name changes, company benefit updates, etc.

Do I need to register my marriage with my local courthouse?

This is not necessary in the United States.  If you reside outside of the US, please check with your local government authority for specific requirements.

Do I need to submit proof of divorce (also referred to as "decree absolute")?

No, but the exact date that your previous marriage ended is required on the application.

Is there an age requirement to get married in Florida?

Both the bride and groom must be 18 years old when applying for a marriage license.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, personal checks and money orders.

How much does it cost?

Our fee is $189.00 and includes the following: Florida Marriage License application fee of $86.00, our services and standard shipping costs or personal delivery to your Orlando resort.  Onsite notary services are also available- the fee including this service is $249.00 and includes all of the same standard services plus onsite notary service at your Orlando resort.

Why would I want to use onsite notary services?

It can be very expensive in some countries to have documents notarized.  We provide onsite notary services to accommodate couples who may find it difficult or prohibitively expensive to have their documents notarized in their home country or simply do not have the time to take care of this ahead of time.  Please note that you will need to arrive 3 business days prior to your wedding in order to take advantage of this service.

What if I cancel my wedding in Florida?

Unfortunately, our fees are non-refundable once submitted.

What if I postpone my wedding in Florida?

If you are postponing to a new date here in Florida and we have not yet obtained your license from the courthouse, we are able to hold your paperwork for up to one year at no additional charge.
